Infection Control

You may have noticed that our health care professionals wear gloves and other personal protective equipment for many aspects of your care. The use of this protective equipment when treating all patients is called standard precautions. The Center for Disease Control has recommended that all health care workers wear protective clothing when they might come in contact with a patient’s blood or body fluids. These both protect you as our patient and our employees against the risk of infection. We provide an ongoing monitoring process of infection in the hospital which identifies community vs. hospital acquired infections in patient and staff.

The Infection Control Department offers the following services:

• Reviews infections and suspected infections
• Reporting to Infection Control Physician Advisor
• Infection Control Committee
• Collection and distribution of data
• Implementation of Infection Control Policies as needed.
• Oversees employee health
• Communicates with Public Health as necessary
• Provides in-services and education to health care personnel and community as needed

We make hand washing a high priority in the care provided to our patients. This simple act is the most important thing we can do to prevent the spread of infection.

Infection Control is located on the 1 st Floor adjacent to the Cafeteria and the Utilization Review Department.

The Infection Control Department is staffed with a Registered Nurse and provides services Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM .
