From sprains and strains to casts and stitches – and for more serious injuries and illnesses – Abbeville General Hospital ’s Emergency Department is here to serve the emergency needs of you and your family 24 hours a day.

We have seven well-equipped private treatment rooms and our emergency department is staffed with experienced physicians, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Unit Secretaries who are specially trained to meet your needs in a caring, compassionate manner while providing excellent emergency care in the quickest manner possible

The Emergency Department is located on the North side of the hospital.

What can I expect at the Emergency Room?

When you arrive at the Emergency Room, you will be seen by a Nurse. The Nurse will ask questions concerning your medical history and assess the severity of your injury or symptoms, and the urgency of treatment. Every patient is important; however, care will be given first to those with the most serious condition.

Whether emergent or non-urgent, patients are seen by competent caring physicians to evaluate their specific needs and direct their personal plan of treatment.

If a patient should require complex specialized care, our professional healthcare team is able to arrange transfer to another facility in an organized and timely manner.
