Employee Benefits
The benefits structure at Abbeville General Hospital is continually upgraded to provide an attractive offering to employees and prospective employees. Here is a sampling of the current benefits package:
Vacation -
Full-time employees are granted 10 days per year; part-time employees earn vacation time on a pro-rated basis.
Holidays -
Full-time employees receive seven (7) paid holidays per year (New Years, Mardi Gras, Good Friday, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas); part-time employees earn holiday pay on a pro-rated basis.
Sick leave -
Full-time employees accumulate sick leave time on a accumulative basis of one working day per month; part-time employees accumulate sick leave time on a pro-rated basis.
Group Health Insurance -
AGH provides group health insurance benefits... employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for group health insurance.
Life Insurance -
AGH provides a life insurance plan ............ Employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours per week are enrolled for group life insurance after one month of employment. Full-time employees receive $10,000 in coverage; part-time employees receive $5,000 in coverage.
Bereavement leave -
Employees with six (6) months of continuous employment are allowed up to three days with pay for death in the immediate family.
Jury Duty -
After six (6) months of continuous employment, employees who are subpoenaed for jury duty will be paid for the hours spent in court up to eight (8) hours a day, less the amount paid to you by the Clerk of Court.
Leave of Absence -
A leave of absence without pay may be taken after six (6) months of continuous employment for illness, maternity, or reasons of personal need deemed valid by the department manager; the maximum time -off allowed is 180 days or six (6) months.
Military Duty -
Employees with six (6) months of continuous employment may be granted a leave of absence for Military Duty. During this absence, employee will retain seniority and is eligible for a position of equal status and pay upon discharge by the military.
Meals & Breaks -
Your supervisor will assign your meal and break times; employees are granted 30 minutes for lunch, and two (2) 15 minute breaks per day; employees receive a discount on meals served in the cafeteria.
Workers' Compensation -
Employees are covered under the provisions of the Workers' Compensation Law and the Louisiana Employment Security Law.
Retirement Benefits -
Employees are eligible to participate in the Abbeville General Retirement Plan after completing two (2) years of service with a minimum of 1,000 hours worked per year. This plan offers you a retirement income in addition to your social security benefits. This benefit is funded fully by AGH.
Tax Sheltered Annuity Program -
Abbeville General Hospital offers a tax sheltered annuity program which allows you to save additional money for your retirement while reducing the amount of income tax you pay.
Social Security -
Employees of Abbeville General Hospital are covered under the Social Security Act of the Federal Government which provides benefits for the elderly, death benefits and survivor insurance.
Education Assistance Program -
Education assistance and scholarship programs are available for professional career advancement endeavors.
Continuing Education and Training Programs -
Skill development is encouraged. Expenses are paid for most out-of-town workshops.
Employee Parking -
A parking area is provided for employees at the rear of the hospital.
Smoke-Free Work Environment -
All areas of the hospital shall be smoke-free in order to minimize the risk to patients and the public of involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke. Employees may smoke outside the hospital in designated areas.
Uniform Assistance -
Uniforms are sold to employees and may be payroll deducted.
Pharmacy Discount -
Employees may have most prescriptions for themselves and their dependents filled through the hospital's pharmacy by payroll deduction.
Special Meals -
Employees are treated with free meals on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and National Hospital Week and at numerous other occasions throughout the year.
